Energy

The production, transportation and distribution of energy are among the areas of expertise developed at SOFRESID ENGINEERING. Our work takes in the fields of fossil, nuclear and renewable energies.

In the emerging sectors, SOFRESID ENGINEERING is particularly active in renewable energies, biomass power plants and the entire LNG supply chain.

SOFRESID ENGINEERING has been designing onshore or offshore industrial sites in conventional or extreme environments for more than 60 years, backed by its long experience in the fields of fossil, nuclear and renewable energy.

 

Fossil fuels

SOFRESID ENGINEERING applies its skills to the development of hydrocarbon-fuelled electricity production plants. As an engineering integrator, we design the necessary infrastructures for electricity production, in particular:

  • The means of routing and offloading hydrocarbons (via pipeline, maritime route and road)
  • Storage depots and tanks
  • Production plants

Drawing on our expertise:

  • For high and low voltage electricity
  • For the dimensioning and specifications of rotating machines: gas or steam turbines, gas or petrol engines
  • For the dimensioning and specifications of rotating machines: gas or steam turbines, gas or petrol engines

Specific skills in the field :
Gas has historically been a core skills area of SOFRESID ENGINEERING. We have conducted comprehensive studies of gas terminals in France and abroad, contributed significantly to projects for floating LNG production, transport and storage facilities (LNG tankers, bunker vessels, FLNG, FSRU, power plants, loading and offloading systems).

 

Renewable energies

Energy transition is an emerging domain in which SOFRESID ENGINEERING supports the major players pursuing this approach.

Since 2008, we have produced many studies in the different sectors of renewable marine energy: wave power, offshore wind power, electricity substations.

Drawing on our expertise in:

  • Selecting and defining foundations (jackets, piles, gravity-based structures) based on the environmental characteristics (currents, tides, geotechnical data)
  • Engineering and installation methods for heavy-lift facilities at sea
  • Engineering for cable laying and subsea hubs
  • Engineering for cable laying and subsea hubs

Since 2015, SOFRESID ENGINEERING has added to its references portfolio in the field of renewable energies by taking part in the production of a biomass plant in Martinique.

 

Nuclear

Our extensive experience in a variety of industries and the generation of tried-and-tested methodologies in terms of design allow us to support you on your particular projects in environments subject to high constraints. This involves utilities and buildings, along with subjects requiring expertise in lifting and handling equipment.

SOFRESID ENGINEERING is, moreover, CEFRI-certified: a standard permitting work in an ionizing environment.
